festivus

Every year, Jordan and I have our own little holiday dinner just for us, and usually on or around December 23. Sometimes we cook something, sometimes we put together the most decadent charcuterie board we can think of.

A few weeks ago when we were in DC, we were talking about what we should have for festivus dinner this year. We were in a car driving back from wandering around an estate, so I said the fanciest thing I could think of:

Which pretty much turned into lobster Puerto Nuevo-style.

We grabbed our lobsters from a newer (to us) fish market – the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market. I didn’t take any photos, but it was probably 8-10 vendors selling fresh caught local fish and lobsters. You could buy entire tuna! And there was a booth at the very end where you could pay to have those tuna processed!

We also picked up some fresh salsa, tortillas, beans, and rice from the nearby Mexican market. Oh, and a brick of lard for frying.

100% bad for you

The verdict? Delicious. Not quite the same as eating it at the beach in Mexico, but a pretty satisfying approximation.
